He is the coolest guy in school... by a mile. Partly that’s because he is "un-attainable"—he just won't fall in love. He's cynical (from family issues) and just doesn't believe in love. And in fact, uses his sarcasm and sardonic wit to poke fun of the Qpiz' efforts.
But he's generally good natured about it all, he knows what the Qpiz are up to... and is always able to thwart their plan and remain... uninvolved. This, of course, drives the Qpiz nuts, particularly Hearty who has a crush on him. They just cannot believe that anyone could be so adverse to romance.
Paradoxically, Tyler enjoys his darker view of human nature. His motto is: the blacker the better. Although the Qpiz suspect some of it is for show, Tyler projects a great image. He prefers to eat burnt food. It took him a long time, but he actually found and bought a black and white television.
Hearty is mad for him, while the other Qpiz are not as fond of him. The Cherries like his "anti-love" stance, although they all are smitten by his looks and dark charm. But his best friend might be Lance, who although is from a different clique...shares his view of love and romance.
